Our Story

When was the last time a brand made you feel something?

Maybe it was a business that earned your trust. A company that seemed to understand exactly what you needed. Or a brand whose message spoke directly to you.

Those moments don’t happen by accident.

Too often, businesses invest in a beautiful website, social media, advertising, and marketing campaigns before they’ve done the foundational work of defining who they are, what makes them unique, and why customers should choose them. The result is confusing messaging, inconsistent experiences, and marketing that struggles to deliver results.

At The Godfrey-Johnson Group, we believe most businesses don’t have a marketing problem, they need more clarity.

About the Owner
Shannon Johnson is a Virginia native with over 25 years of experience in marketing, brand development, and event and meeting planning. Shannon started as a fashion show and event producer in New York City where she worked with American and International brands, and managed events for Macy’s, producing celebrity product launches and store openings across the US and Caribbean.
Shannon’s professional journey evolved into a brand marketing career with media top companies including Time Warner Corporate, Condé Nast, Essence Magazine, and The Reader’s Digest Association. After returning to her home state of Virginia in 2011, she led marketing and branding efforts for state organizations, including Virginia State Parks and Virginia Tourism, leading the “Virginia is for Lovers” brand. Shannon is also a licensed Realtor® in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Today, she still helps business owners, investors, and families with their real estate needs.
Shannon combines her colorful background with her passion for helping businesses thrive. When she is not working, she is spending time with her husband and two children – she’s a soccer and gymnastics Mom – traveling to warm places, eating her way through cities one restaurant at a time, and enjoying time in nature.
While in corporate America, Shannon saw the great impact of having a strong brand, and also so the challenges when a brand is not aligned. She wanted to be a partner to businesses navigating this challenge.
